Radio Bay FM – “ The Smart Set “ 18.05.12” Side One 1. Shape of Things To Come – Max Frost and the Troopers. Released in
August 1968 and reached No 22 in the USA.
2. Generation – Jelly Bean Bandits . From New youk State this is the B
side of their only single from 1967.
3. The Spider and the Fly – The Monacles. Help me out on this one ? I
think it’s a different Monacles to the band of “I cant win “ fame.
4. Why – The Dirty Wurds. From Chicargo this is their first single from 1965.
5. Your gonna Miss Me – The Spades. Formed in Austin Texas in 1965 .
Roky Erickson went on to the 13th Floor Elevaters.
6. Up in my Mind – The Spontanious Generation – A great fuzz and wah
wah track but little is known about the band. Can you help ?
7. The Trip – Park Avenue Playground. From Chicargo. Driving organ
,lots of fuzz,swirling sound effects and psychedelic lyrics.
8. Action Woman – The Litter . 1st single from 1967.From minnisota
they released 2 of the best garage albums ever.”$100 fine” and
“Distortions.”
9. Its My Pride – The Guess Who . American band . This track was very
big on the Mod Rallies in Britain in the 1990s.
10. La Responsible – Jacque Dutronc . From 1969 this was a single from
the French Wizard himself.
11. The Rebel Kind – Dino , Desi , and billy .Released 4 lps between
1965 and 66. There is a best of cd on Sundazed records called “The
Rebel Kind”
12. Night Time Girl – Modern Folk Quartet . Band formed in Hawai in
1962.Single released in 1966 had minor success in the hit parade.
13. Daily Nightly – The Monkees . From their forth album Piaces
Aquarious Capricorn and jones with Micky dolenz playing the
synthsisor.
14. High on Love – The Knickabockers. Took their name from
Knickabocker avenue in New jersey where they came from. No 94 in 1966.
15. Mr Pharmacist – The Other Half. From 1968 . 4th and last single.
The group contained Randy Holden who replaced Leigh Stephens in Blue
Cheer.
16. Out of our Tree – The Wailers. 3rd single from 1965. Didn’t chart.
They split in 1969 after releasing 8 lps between 1959 and 69.
17. Why Pick on Me – The Standells . No 54 in 1966 .Formed in Los
Angeles in 1963 and had 5 lps between 1964 and 67.
18. Blackout of Grately – The Gonn . A solid fuzz punker here.
Released as a single in 1966 on the Emir labal.
19. Complication – The Monks . Consisted on 5 serving soldiers in the
US army in Frankfurt. Formed a band and hit the beer halls. Dressed as
monks.
20. Maid of Suger Maid of Spice – Mouse & the Traps. From Tyler Texas.
Second single from 1966 . Radio Bay FM – The Smart Set “18.05.12” Side Two. 1. Wind of change – The Accent. Only single releaced on decca in 1967
2,Nite-is-a-coming – Warm sounds. 3rd and last single from 1968. Didn’t chart.
3.Jabberwock – Boeing Duven and the Beautiful soup. Changed his name
to Hank Wangford and sang country.
4. Time of the Season – Zombies . From the Odessy and Orical Album. No
1 in the US in 1968.Authough the band had split up that March.
5.Catherines Wheel – Denny Laine from the moody Blues and later Wings.
6. My Minds At Ease – The Collage – From their sole album for smash in 1967.
7.My Friend Jack ( Demo Version ) – The Smoke from Australia or New
Zealand. Do You Know ?
8. Children of Tomorrow – Mike Stuart Span. Only 500 copies exsist from 1968.
9.Fifth Dimention – The Byrds. Title track from one of their fantastic Albums.
10.Gentlemen of pleasure – Tremeloes. B side of here comes my baby a
No4 hit here in the UK in 1967 and No 14 in the US.
11.I Can Hear The Grass Growing – The New Hobbits . From the Back to
Middle Earth Album from 1969.
12. Butterfly – Marmalade . Had a No 1 with obladi oblada in 1969 and
this track was the second single after that and didn’t chart.
13. The Happiest Day Of My Life – Queen Annes Lace . From 1968 This
Hip Duo wrote some groovy originals .
14. Break out the Wine – The Spike Drivers . From Detroit this was the
B side of their second single for Reprise.
15.Lucy in the Sky with diamonds – William Shatner. What have they
been feeding Capt Kirk.
16. Three Kingfishers – Donovan . From the Sunshine Superman album from 1967.
17. Take it as it comes – The Doors . From their first album the doors.
18.Try a little Sunshine – The Factory . Their second single from 1969
. Now available as a reissue for about £6.00 . On 7 in vinal.
19.Victoria – The Kinks . Just because it’s a great track and it’s the Kinks.
20. grounded – The Syn. Played at the 14hr Technicolour Dream at
Alexandra Palace in London 1967.
21.Sgt Pepper Reprise.
